Rising Retail Sales and Consumer Confidence data hints that the days of 4 percent, 30-year fixed rate mortgages may be nearing its end. [...] Mortgage rates are tough to pin down because, although the recession is over, everyday citizens aren’t spending like it is. [...] Conforming and FHA mortgage rates rose for the first time in 5 weeks last week, pulling mortgage pricing off its best levels of the year. This report surveys consumers throughout the country on their attitudes of the present and future outlook of the US economy, as this is a pretty important influence on bond and stock markets.
